Where Did November Go?

Wowee! November really flew by! Students are busily finishing up many projects at the moment and seem slightly stressed out as a group, I would say. Although we are all excited about finishing our math unit on multiplication and division, country research and our language arts class novel, Silverwing, students seem a little on edge. And for good reason I believe! We accomplished so many things in October and November. A major accomplishment was the Children’s Dollar Shop! We were able to raise over $500 and we have the entire community, but especially the fourth grade to thank for accomplishing that. It was a lot of work but the Head Start program will benefit greatly. Tomorrow we will deliver bags of toiletries that fourth graders brought in over the last few weeks which are much needed for the Women’s Housing Coalition.  Wasn’t Thanksgiving just last week and now we are preparing for the upcoming holiday season?

I will be focusing on taking time to slow down and smell the roses over the next two weeks before we leave. Although it can be a busy and sometimes stressful time for many, I think it’s important, especially for children, to enjoy being a kid and what better gift can we as adults give them? Enjoy your children, your family, your friends, your coworkers, your neighbors, your mailperson…the people in your lives that make it what it is. How lucky we are to have eachother and be a part of this wonderful community! Let us show our children that people are what make the season bright. Happy Holidays and hopefully I will see you soon!
